Original circa 1883 Fire Bell
Bell was refurbished in 2014 by Dan Saliaris and Rage Corporation. Many thanks to Dan and Rage for their generous donation. The Fire Bell was purchased in 1883 and it hung in our original Fire house. Back in the day, this bell was used to notify firefighters that there was a fire. On the front of the bell you will see inscribed the date the fire department was organized "January 1st, 1883", on the four corners of the bell you will see the names of the local governments that the fire department serves today. The Village of Ashley, Oxford Township, Peru Township and Westfield Township.

Fire Safety - Prevention

The purpose of Fire Prevention is to educate the public on precautions that they can take to prevent potentially harmful fires and how to survive if they occur. Preservation of Life and the Protection of property is our goal. Fire Prevention is a proactive method of preventing Fire Emergencies or reducing the damage caused by them. The Elm Valley Joint Fire District currently has 4 State Certified Fire Safety Inspectors on staff.

The EVFD Fire Prevention Office performs Fire Inspections annually at Businesses and Public Buildings located within the Fire District. Responsibilities include enforcing the Ohio State Fire Code as it relates to new commercial construction, remodeling of existing businesses, change of business usage in an existing structure and annual fire inspections of commercial properties.

For questions pertaining to:

  • Annual Fire Safety Inspections
  • Commercial Plan Reviews
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
